As a father, professor, and advocate, Dave knows the value of education. His step-son went through Beverly Farms Elementary School, Hoover Middle School, and Churchill High School, and his daughter is currently in the eighth grade at Hoover. Dave went through public schools himself.
Higher Education Experience
Dave has more than two decades of experience teaching, including at the University of Michigan, the University of Cincinnati, the College of Charleston, Trident Technical College, George Washington University, and Johns Hopkins University. In addition, Dave has spent the last 11 years advocating in state capitals around the country for funding for college students to come to Washington for semester and summer term internship programs.
Dave comes from a family of educators (and writers and business people too). His mother taught at Atlantic Community College and was a Division Chair and his father served as an adjunct professor at St. Joseph’s University.
Dave supports Common Core and universal pre-k. Dave also firmly believes that the United States must work to lower the cost of higher education and expand loan forgiveness programs for college graduates. He also believes we should expand English as a 2 nd Language Programs.
In Congress, Dave will work to promote public-private partnerships, workforce development, and improved STEM programs in our schools.
