Environmental policy is all at once a local, global, and moral issue. As citizens of the world, we are entrusted with the responsibility to preserve the natural world and its finite resources for future generations. Dave Anderson believes that it is possible to develop energy policies that protect the environment we all share and lower the cost of energy for Maryland families and businesses.
Dave believes that we must reduce carbon pollution by at least 50% by 2030. As a professor, Dave addressed issues of environmental justice and environmental sustainability in business ethics and political ethics classes he taught over the course of 15 years. There is no doubt that we face today, as we have faced for many years, a major global challenge. Dave supports federal legislation promoting the reduction of carbon emissions in the air and would work with state legislators and governors to ensure that federal-state partnership are in place to holistically address these crucial issues.
Still, the United States cannot unilaterally change the troubling trajectory of our global environment. As a Member of Congress, Dave will ensure that the United States works effectively with other countries in regional and global partnerships to address global environmental concerns.
Dave supports increased funding for EPA enforcement, scientific research, and efforts to diversify our energy supply to transition to clean energy. As a Member of Congress, Dave will work to guide policy formation and to advance the cause of creating an environmentally sustainable country and world.
